Just curious, when will you be taking requests again? o u o
Probably the next time I feel like translating after I finish my current requests. I don’t have any idea when that will be though. Sometimes life gets in the way of motivation.
Hey, just wanted to thank you for all of the hard work and effort you put into this project. I've downloaded one or two of your projects and I've been very pleased with the quality. That said, if you're ever interested in having a direct download option, I'd be happy to provide you some webspace on bakura(.)nu :)
Wow, would that really okay? That would be amazing! The most frustrating part of this is the links getting taken down and having to put them up again… having somewhere they wouldn’t be taken down from would be crazy helpful.
Thank you so much for translating all these doujinshi! You helped me reconnect with YGO fandom, and it's been great!
Wow, thank you! That’s a really… moving compliment. :) I’m glad you’re enjoying the doujinshi and getting back into fandom!
Some of the Multiupload links say the file doesn't exist or that it has been removed. Are you going to fix those?
Maybe. I sometimes replace them as they go down, but it’s difficult for a lot of them, because I myself don’t have the files anymore after my computer crashed a while back. Unsurprisingly, going through and saving all the files off photobucket again and then uploading them takes a lot of time and effort that I don’t really feel like expending…
During the times you do take requests, do you have a limit on how many pages are in a doujin? Say a 100-200 max? Less? More? None?
No, there’s no page limit. There’s a limit to the number of volumes someone can request, obviously, to stop people from asking me to translate a whole bunch of books or a whole series at the same time, but when it comes to a single volume, there is no limit on the pages.
Hey, just curious, is there a sequel to Goendama's Tendershipping doujinshi "Game"?
No, not that I know of. As far as my knowledge goes, it’s a one-shot. But if I’m wrong, someone should correct me. :)
How do you translate your doujinshi? Are you fluent in kanji?
I feel like this answer is going to get tl;dr.
I’m not fluent in kanji. My level is difficult to explain. I know what I need to know as a teacher at a Japanese JHS, and I’m awesome at reading the effects of Japanese Yu-Gi-Oh cards. But my kanji is at (the new) JLPT level 3, officially.
As for how I translate, I use the Jim Breen word look-up and multi-radical kanji look-up, Google translate if I’m having trouble putting words into a cohesive sentence (You can thank Google Translate for not getting sentences like “Everything bet, made out to be!”).
And I use a Japanese-Japanese dictionary, for those special moments when the English translation doesn’t make sense/doesn’t exist. Yeah. That’s basically how it goes. Also, I visit a lot of culture sites because the first time I came across the sentence “Get me a moon viewing burger!” I KNEW there was a cultural lapse in communication there somewhere.
